Percent Off Calculator
Find sale price and total savings from any percent discount.
Enter the original price and discount percent. Get the sale price, total savings, and what you'll actually pay at checkout.
Examples: $80 at 25% off = $60 (save $20). $200 at 40% off = $120 (save $80).
How percent off is calculated
Sale price = original price × (1 - discount percent / 100). For a $80 item at 25% off: $80 × (1 - 0.25) = $80 × 0.75 = $60. You save the original price minus the sale price, which is $20 in this example.
Common discount math
- 10% off means you pay 90% of original
- 25% off means you pay 75% of original
- 50% off means you pay half
- 75% off means you pay a quarter
- Buy one get one half off is effectively 25% off the pair
Stacking discounts
If you apply two discounts in sequence (e.g., 20% off the marked price, then an extra 10% off at checkout), the total discount is NOT 30%. The 10% comes off the already-reduced price. $100 at 20% off = $80. $80 at another 10% off = $72. Total discount: 28%, not 30%. Stores rely on this confusion.
