What CalcHive is, and how the numbers stay accurate

A free library of calculators that run in your browser. The formula on each page is the formula the page runs.

CalcHive is a static collection of calculators for finance, cooking, measurement, time, math, health, nutrition, and DIY. You type the inputs. The page computes them on your device. The explanation under the form is that same arithmetic, with worked numbers you can recompute. There is no account, and the calculation is not sent off to be answered.

Where a conversion factor is fixed by definition, the code uses that definition. Length, weight, and volume go through the international inch, foot, and pound: 1 inch = 25.4 mm, 1 foot = 0.3048 m, 1 pound = 0.45359237 kg, and the litre sizes those definitions imply. NIST publishes those factors in Special Publication 811. Temperature uses the ordinary Celsius, Fahrenheit, and kelvin relations, including the 273.15 offset. Kitchen cups on the cooking converter use the same US fluid-ounce chain as the volume converter.

Where a figure changes, the page does not store a current rate. A 7 percent mortgage field or a 20 percent tip field is a placeholder. Replace it with the number on your quote, your tax bill, or the percent you intend to use. Social Security figures and rental tax treatment are published by the agency that owns them. Those tools point at SSA and at IRS Publication 527 instead of treating a web form as the regulation. If a result disagrees with a closing disclosure or a measuring tape, the disclosure and the tape win.
